Trainee Travel Award in Honor of Dr. Ricardo Lloyd

I am excited to share the news of an effort to expand the Dr. Ricardo and Mrs. Deborah Lloyd Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Trainee Travel Fund. This fund is the first in our department to exclusively focus on supporting trainees’ professional development and travel to present their research. It will honor the achievements and legacy of Dr. Ricardo Lloyd as an extraordinary teacher and mentor in supporting our shared mission to educate future leaders in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, acquire new knowledge about the pathogenesis of human disease, and improve diagnostic and prognostic accuracy.

On behalf of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, our faculty past and present, and all of our alumni trainees in residency, fellowship, and the Cellular and Molecular Pathology PhD program, and future trainees whom your support will benefit in the future – I hope you will join me in taking an impactful step toward advancing our mission to educate, investigate, and create excellent patient care by donating to this cause.

"My forte was surgical pathology, in large part as a result of the what I learned and the skills developed, from the residents and staff during those most important four years of training in the Pathology Residency Program at the UW Hospital and Clinics from 1977-81. It is for that reason that I have decided to make a significant financial commitment to the pathology resident travel, and research endowment started by my former colleague Ric Lloyd."
